Sandcracks are separations in the horny box. They don’t close down again but will only disappear when healthy, compact horn grows down from the coronet. Up until then, the sandcrack plasters protect the hoof.
The marginal areas of the cracks must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The crack has to be able to dry. Then, the lukewarm, well mixed glue is spreaded onto the feltlayer of the warmed plaster. When glueing a DALLMER Sandcrack Plaster it is advisable to leave a gap of approx. 1 cm to the coronary.
