Dallmer Hoofshoes

Podotrochlosis

Hufrollenerkrankung

Definition:
A degenerative, inflammatory disease affecting the tendon’s articular surface of the distal sesamoid bone, the flexor tendon on the distal phalanx, or the navicular bursa.

Causes:
Too long toes lead to excessive structural strain on the rear area of the hoof.

Symptoms:
Toe propulsion and feet broken forward. The horses try to relieve painful pressure on the rear part of the hoof.

Treatment:
When treating diseases of the sesamoid bone, it is left to orthopedic hoof protection to bring about the desired change in the hoof that facilitates and accelerates the rolling action of the hoof. This compensates for the lack of wall horn. DALLMER Hoofshoes meet the special needs of horses with podotrochlosis: DALLMER Cuffs with Eggbar Horseshoes intensify the toe support so that the horse can roll over the toe of the shoe. A raising of the heels can be reached by using the DALLMER Cuff Model CK or the DALLMER Rehe-Cuff with a 6° wedge plate.
